How to Prepare for the Launch Call

What to pull together before your first call with me — so we don't waste 20 minutes on things you could have had ready.

The first call is free and takes about 20 minutes. I use it to understand your business, your customers, and what you need the site to accomplish. The more you can tell me in that call, the faster the build goes.

Here's what to have ready.

The basics

Your business name, address, and phone number. Obvious, but get the exact spelling and formatting you use. If you have multiple locations, tell me which one is primary.

Your hours. Exact hours by day, including whether you're seasonal. If you have holiday closures or variations, mention them.

The services you offer. List them specifically — not just "landscaping," but "lawn mowing, hedge trimming, spring cleanups, fall leaf removal, mulching." The more specific, the better your site pages will be.

Your service area. Which towns, neighborhoods, or counties do you actually work in? This goes directly into your site copy and Google optimization.

What makes you different

Think about why a customer would pick you over the next result on Google. It might be: 10 years in business, family-owned, same-day response, licensed and insured, before-and-after photos that prove the quality. Whatever it is, name it. I'll use it.

Your photos

You don't need professional photos. Decent phone photos of your work, your vehicle or equipment, and your team (if any) are fine. A few good "before and after" shots of your best jobs are worth more than stock photos.

If you don't have any yet, I'll tell you exactly what to shoot and you can send them before the build starts.

Your competitor URLs (optional but useful)

If there are 2–3 other businesses in your area that you respect or consider direct competition, pull up their sites before the call. Not to copy them — to tell me what you like and don't like. This shortens the design conversation significantly.

What you don't need to have ready

You don't need to know what colors or fonts you want. You don't need to have written any copy. You don't need to know anything about websites or web design. That's my job.

If you've been overthinking this, stop. The intake form I send after the call gets into the details. The call itself is just a conversation.

One thing that slows builds down

The single biggest delay I see: clients who haven't gathered their photos by the time the build is ready for them. If you have any photos at all, send them before or during the build — don't wait until I ask twice. The site looks significantly better with real photos of your actual work than with any placeholder.

If you're ready to book, contact me here and we'll find a time.
