The 4-word fix for your homepage
Most small business homepages have the same problem: they say what the business is but not what it does for the customer.
The fix is four words: "We help [customer] [result]."
Instead of "Welcome to Smith Plumbing" — try "We fix leaks fast, guaranteed." Instead of "Nassau County's premier landscaping company" — try "We make your yard look like the best one on the block."
It sounds obvious. Most sites don't do it. The ones that do get more calls.
Why it works
When someone lands on your homepage from Google, they're asking one question: "Is this for me?" The answer has to be yes or no in 3 seconds, or they're gone.
A headline that names the customer and the outcome they want answers that question immediately. Everything else on the page just backs it up.
This week's action item
Pull up your homepage. Read your headline out loud. Does it answer "what do you do for me?" If not, rewrite it with this template and see if it changes how people respond.
