Website Design for Therapists and Counselors on Long Island

Someone looking for a therapist is often nervous, and they usually search quietly, late at night, on a phone. They want to know who you are, who you work with and how to reach you without feeling exposed. I build websites for Long Island therapists, counselors and small mental-health practices that are calm, clear and private by design. The same approach works for psychologists and other small medical practices.

What clients say

Review from Google

★★★★★May 2026

Logan created my website completely from scratch, the design was exactly what I was looking for. The service itself was incredibly professional and smooth in regards to the details that I wanted specifically. Logan was very communicative when it came to reaching out and asking questions about my vision for the site and the little things that I wanted to incorporate. Overall the process was very straightforward and Logan was very pleasant to work with.

★★★★★May 2026

Working with Logan has honestly been an amazing experience. He really took the time to understand my vision and created something that feels aligned with my work, my energy, and the experience I want people to have.

He didn't just throw together something generic — he thought deeply about branding, SEO, layout, user experience, and how to make everything feel clean, professional, and authentic. Everything feels grounded, modern, and actually represents me in a way I struggled to put into words myself.

Logan was patient, creative, responsive, and full of great ideas throughout the entire process. He also helped guide me on positioning my business in a way that feels natural instead of overly salesy.

If you're looking for someone who genuinely cares about the project and puts real intention into their work, I highly recommend Logan.

Why it matters

Why a great website matters for Therapists

A directory profile tells people you exist. Your own website tells them what it would be like to work with you. Potential clients compare a few practitioners before reaching out. They read how you describe your approach, check whether you work with their situation, and look for an easy, low-pressure way to make contact. A site that answers those questions plainly makes that first message easier to send.

What converts

Conversion priorities for Therapists sites

A clear, warm About page

People choose a therapist largely on fit. Your credentials, licensure, the concerns you work with, your approach and what a first session looks like should be easy to find, written in your voice rather than in jargon.

Specialty and service pages

Anxiety, couples work, teens, trauma, grief and so on each deserve a page of their own. Those pages match the specific searches people make, and they help a visitor see that you work with someone like them.

A low-pressure way to reach out

Offer a short contact form and a phone number, and say plainly how soon you reply. Many people would rather send a message than call, so the form matters as much as the number.

Fees, insurance and logistics

Session length, fees, whether you take insurance or offer a superbill, and whether you see clients in person, by telehealth or both. Answering these up front saves you repeat emails and spares visitors an awkward question.

For therapists

Privacy and booking on a therapist website

Mental-health sites carry privacy expectations most small business sites do not. These are general points, not legal advice. Your practice is responsible for its own privacy and professional obligations.

Client privacy first

No tracking-heavy add-ons, no client lists, and no testimonials unless your professional rules allow them. The site collects as little as it can and says what it does with it. The website chatbot is set up to tell visitors not to share health details and to call or book instead.

Contact forms with no clinical details

The form asks only for a name, a way to reach the person and a preferred contact time. It tells visitors not to describe symptoms or personal history, and not to send health information by plain email. Clinical conversation starts through your own channels.

A HIPAA-aware setup

I set the site up with HIPAA in mind: minimal data collection, and no health details requested through the site. I do not claim the site is HIPAA compliant or certified, and I do not handle protected health information (PHI). If your practice needs a HIPAA-covered tool for forms or messaging, that stays with the vendor you choose.

Booking through your existing scheduler

If you already use a scheduler such as SimplePractice, Jane or a similar system, the site links to your booking page with a clear Book a consultation button. I do not replace your scheduler or store appointment details.

Psychology Today profile vs your own site

A Psychology Today profile is useful for being found, and you should keep it. Your own site is the part you control: your wording, your specialty pages and your local search presence. The profile and the site work best when each links to the other.

SEO takes months, and I do not promise rankings or leads.

FAQ

Common questions about Therapists websites

How much does a therapist website cost?

It's $500 setup + $80/month: one plan with a custom site, local SEO, and an AI chatbot. No contract, you own your site, and bigger sites are quoted. The pricing page has the full breakdown.

Is the website HIPAA compliant?

I can't claim that and I don't certify anything. I build the site with HIPAA in mind: forms ask for no clinical details, visitors are told not to send health information by plain email, and I do not handle PHI. If you need HIPAA-covered forms or messaging, you would use a vendor that signs the right agreement for your practice.

Can clients book through the site?

Yes, by linking to your existing scheduler, whether that is SimplePractice, Jane or another system. The site sends people to your booking page, and a simple contact form is there for anyone who prefers to write first.

Do I still need Psychology Today if I have a website?

Many practitioners keep both. The profile helps people find you, and your own site gives you room to explain your approach and rank for local searches. I can link the two so visitors move easily between them.

Can you work with psychologists and other small practices?

Yes. The setup is the same for solo therapists, counseling groups, psychologists and other small medical practices. Practices with several clinicians or locations need extra pages, which I scope separately.
